Re: New Project: The Jonquils (RS150P-8 + SB26STNC)
Yay! The voicing is complete and I am extremely happy with how this project turned out. I won't be able to take the final measurements till this weekend, maybe longer. But here are some of my subjective observations:
- surprisingly nice bass out of the RS150P's in 0.25 CF
- really great midrange detail without being "clinically sterile". Rory you guys really came up with the right cone material
- as I said before, the SB26 tweeter is unbelievable at that price
- these two drivers really go well togetherCraig

Re: New Project: The Jonquils (RS150P-8 + SB26STNC)
Craig,
Have you heard the XT25s? I'm wondering how they compare to the SB26s. If you've heard both, you're subjective impressions would be appreciated.
I wish PE would offer the 0.35cf cab with the 7.5in wide baffle of the 0.25cf cab. A 5in-ish driver on a 8.5in baffle always looked weird to me. Too much empty space on the sides. And must 5in-ish drivers like about 10L best.
Looking forward to measurements.Nichikuros - Peerless 831735 Nomex + Vifa NE25VTA
Digger8 - Small compact 8" sub with F3 = 20Hz
Madison-D and Madison-R - Tang Band W4-1720 + Vifa BC25SC06 or Beston RT003C (TM and MTM)
Jeffrey - Tang Band W5-704D + Beston RT003C
Jasmine - Fountek FW146 + Fountek NeoCD3.0 Ribbon in Pioneer BS21 Cabinet

I'm also looking forward to some more details. This looks like a great build.

I have heard the dual ring radiator tweeters on a couple of occasions. I liked what I heard. Unfortunately I've never heard them here in my listening space. So I can't really compare them to the SB26 tweeters.Craig

Re: New Project: The Jonquils (RS150P-8 + SB26STNC)
Thanks Craig. I appreciate the response.
Fwiler, you and I seem to be the oddballs who like narrow baffles.
Edit: Sim'd the RS150P-8 and it doesn't seem to dig very deep. In a 7.5L cab, it barely hits 70Hz if I put a small 1-2dB bump before it rolls off (mid-60s if I run it flat...0.70ish Qts). I'm curious what your measurements will show Craig. I hope you can do some close mic ones.Last edited by jsr; 05-16-2014, 03:08 PM.Nichikuros - Peerless 831735 Nomex + Vifa NE25VTA

Thanks Mike! I like the level of detail those two drivers provide without being too clinical.
My wife thinks your Minions look great! She really likes your veneer and color choices. So do I.Craig

Re: New Project: The Jonquils (RS150P-8 + SB26STNC)
I remember making a mental note to myself when I heard these at Indy: "These sound really nice." They have convinced me to try the RS150P in a design soon! Good job Craig!Audio: Media PC -> Sabre ESS 9023 DAC -> Behringer EP2500 -> (insert speakers of the moment)
