Re: Acoustic Development Quatro in Hot Springs, AR July 11, 12, 13
I have been asked to put a schedule together which I am happy to do so. Just remember this is a get together and as such it is pretty loose. For those traveling we will be able to check you into a room Friday afternoon. You can unload, take a shower, it will be July in Arkansas, and meet the crew. Take a tour of the campus and where we will set up for listening. You can even get your equipment set up if you want. We usually go to dinner and one of the favorites, Steinhaus Keller, which is German (and a little fushion) food and on tap German beer. You will not lose any weight.
On Saturday breakfast will be on your own but two restaurants within two blocks of the school is the Colonial House (1 block) and the pretty famous Pancake House (2 blocks) The buckwheat pancakes are pretty well known. I like the Colonial just as well.
About 9:30 a.m. or 10:00 a.m. we will get "officially" started by listening to each other projects. The reason I gave last year's locals a hard time was some didn't bring anything and I know what my speakers sound like. I am sure Bob Brines will have at least one of his designs here. I have a couple of small speakers completed. Hipcheck has some nice power amps. Without Blair attending I become the set up guy so I am open to suggestions and help.
We will break for lunch and go to Rolandos, again within walking distance. The food to me is "Cuban" but I think they say Ecuadorian. Either way it is delicious. We will come back to campus and listen to more projects. And please, if people have tracks they think work well for listening bring them.
For Dinner that night we will go to the Superior Bath House which is a micro brewery and has nice food. A little bit of a walk, but doable. After dinner you are on your own. At the end of this message I will list some of the attractions in town.
Sunday is breakfast on your own, you can try the breakfast place you didn't try on Saturday or go to the Arlington Hotel brunch which is also within walking distance. Around 9:30 or 10:00 we will do some follow up listening if anyone has a request and probably break up around Noon. I will be happy to suggest a place for lunch. Lets see how many we have.
Saturday night Maxine's usually has a band and good beer on tap. Fat Jacks Oyster Bar has a band on the weekend, seafood (mostly deep fried) and beers on tap within easy walking distance of the school. Low Key Arts usually has something going but they do not have a schedule up for July yet.
There are a number of Art Galleries downtown. Maxwell Blade has a magic show that is very impressive within walking distance. There are more spas then I can list. But the Arlington Hotel and the Buckstaff Bath House are both within walking distance but I would encourage you to make a reservation. If you are bringing your significant other it is worth brownie points. There is also the Mid-American Museum if you have youngsters with you and Magic Spring Water Park.
Some people have asked about doing a swap meet, bring your stuff.
