  • Dual Opposed Sub's

I have been looking for a dual opposed flat pack for awhile and have been looking at the 2.5 cf flat pack from DIY sound group. But since Erich had posted that flat pack it has never shown in stock. I was wanting to see if I could get some help in designing a dual opposed cabinet using the following driver:

    Acoustic Elegance IB12HT 8ohm

    Fs: 16.78Hz
    Qms: 4.85
    Vas: 179.5 L
    Cms: .45 mm/N
    Mms: 200 g
    Rms: 4.35 kg/S
    Xmax: 18.5 mm(peak)
    Xmech: 25 mm(peak)
    Sd: 530 sqcm
    Vd: 1.96L (p-p)
    Qes: .74
    Re: 5.5 ohm
    Le: .16 mH
    Z: 8 ohm
    Bl: 12.49 T/m
    Pe: 500W (cont.)
    Qts: .64
    1WSPL: 82.56 dB
    2.83V: 84.19 dB

If this would be a bad choice for a dual opposed box please let me know. The idea is to design a very clean very low distortion sub that I will actually use as a coffee table. I am looking for what I will use as the table top right now. I am counting on the dual opposed to cancel out vibration and just give awesome low distortion low freq and LFE goodness to my new family room setup.

Please let me know what ya al' think.

Thanks in advance for all the help and input!

    Kevin

That driver needs a lot space. Don't know how low you want to go. With 7cf sealed, a pair will do F3 of 25Hz and handle 500w. Still hits 105dB at 20Hz but I prefer flat response to my lowest frequency of interest.
    Nichikuros - Peerless 831735 Nomex + Vifa NE25VTA
    Digger8 - Small compact 8" sub with F3 = 20Hz
    Madison-D and Madison-R - Tang Band W4-1720 + Vifa BC25SC06 or Beston RT003C (TM and MTM)
    Jeffrey - Tang Band W5-704D + Beston RT003C
    Jasmine - Fountek FW146 + Fountek NeoCD3.0 Ribbon in Pioneer BS21 Cabinet

Yes I saw that. Perhaps this would work better:

      TD12H-8ohm
      Fs: 26.7Hz
      Qms: 3.72
      Vas: 160 L
      Cms: 88.6 g
      Rms: 4 kg/S
      Xmax: 14 mm(peak)
      Xmech: 18 mm(peak)
      Sd: 530 sqcm
      Vd: 1.48L (p-p)
      Qes: .25
      Re: 6.5 ohm
      Le: .3 mH
      Z: 8 ohm
      Bl: 19.7 T/m
      Pe: 300W (cont.)
      Qts: .23
      1WSPL: 92.9 dB
      2.83V: 93.77 dB
