I don't think I'd flank the tweeter with ports. Might get some strange diffraction.
Your right. That would cancel the benefits. Maybe below the woofer or I could try a slot port. I have never used one.

John, I was trying to make use of one of the new drivers. But then, the "P" is new. It is less than half the price though. mmmmm, I'll consider it.
Jason, you may be right. With the inverted arrangement, size counts. I'll consider it.
Marty, I really want to use a ring radiator with a small footprint like the Polk. It is just under 3" though. I'll consider it.
Thanks guys.
I like the SC90's over that TB 847. Keep it, Lowell, if you don't go OT19.
If I were to do a mini-3-way like this, I would be hoping for a 7" woofer, but if it all won't fit, you have your compromise.

You can consider the Anarchy woofer available through the DIYSOUNDGROUP.COM

Lowell,
The SB12MNRX are very nice little midwoofers. Sound great, easy to work with and not too expensive. Zaph has a test of them on his site if you want to see distortion, CSD, etc. http://meniscusaudio.com/sb-sb12mnrx254-p-1401.html
My $0.03... The ring radiator is a good idea, but I would personally feel more comfortable using the 3/4" flangeless in a shallow waveguide. It is just a better model all around IMHO. Another alternative, as suggested by others, is the little SB... but give the new CSS tweeters a look as well. I used them in the bookshelf speakers I demoed at DDIY, and found them to be juuuuust fine.
(just because I still like how they turned out)
Lowell, this looks like you have the simmerings of what could be a very nice little 3-way. Hope to see this come to fruition!

Dan, it seems like the dip around 1800 would combine with baffle diffraction and really dip. Am I mistaken?

RS and ES 180 are 7". Think I will stay with the Rs180p and SB26. Just have to decide on a mid.
What is sc90?

I'm pretty sure he was referring to the original tweeter - vifa XT25sc90
I just bought a pair for a small 3 way design, but that'll be down the road a couple of months.

Having used it in a project or two, I'd actually vote for the TB marty suggested over the vifa.
Failure is not an option. It comes bundled with Windows.

I did not find that to be the case in my Proximity design. It measured +-1 from 200hz-18khz, with the exception of a -2db dip in the 3.5khz range. I probably have some measurements on one of my computers, if I saved them.
