really disappointed with PE rite now ... building $1000 towers using almost all their product and was just told they can't really help me with the wrong diaphragm that THEY sent me ... so now i either buy another WRONG diaphragm or a new RS28F to make sure that i have two of the same tweeters ...

      unhappy boy !

This problem really needs to be corrected.

Let's summarize what happened. The RS28F failed during testing. Thinking he was at fault, Filmslayer ordered a new diaphragm. PE sent one improperly packed, incurring minor damage to the dome and vc former. PE then did the right thing and sent another one, which he installed. Filmslayer then mailed both damaged domes to me. I almost immediately recognized one of them as a Usher 9950-20, and confirm with measurements. The original appears to have failed at a factory defect, a point on the tinsel lead that was bent/crimped too sharply. Would have been a warranty issue had he known/suspected. I then message him and confirm that the second replacement is also a 9950 dome with a Re of 4.7 ohms.

A couple other discoveries of note-

The replacement dome was without the thin fabric-like gasket on the backside.
The original RS28F diaphragm has ferrofluid residue on it.
The replacment dome had excess glue on the tinsel leads, preventing proper mounting seal. A novice would not have noticed, or had a successful assembly.

At this point, PE should send him a new RS28F and an apology.

I agree. It looks like PE's mistake that they need to correct. They should never stick a customer with something like this, especially when we're only talking about a tweeter. Plus, since they sent the wrong item, it seems odd that they wouldn't automatically correct it.

? this is not good. Is this a fluke? Bad customer rep out of a generally good pool of reps? Is this common?

I'm about to throw down well over $2,000 in drivers for HT using almost all stuff from this site - Esoteric series, passive radiators and CSS RT2 since PE out of stock on Esoteric tweeter.

If what I just read in this thread represents the level of customer service I can expect, I'll scrap the entire plan and go somewhere else that actually appreciates the business.

            Edited:
Ok I just searched the forums regarding customer service and the vast majority of what i read indicates outstanding service overall. I do wonder if it's just the particular rep in this case. Maybe their manager needs to get involved, sort your problem then have a chat with the rep.
Feel free to rip my assumptions apart when wrong, or fix if close.

            Passive Radiators:
All PR(s) Vd must at-least double all woofer(s) Vd. Calc = Sd x Xmax to get Vd for all PR(s) and all woofer(s). If all PR(s) Vd at-least double all woofer(s) Vd they'll work.
For woofer(s) with large Xmax vs Sd, all PR(s) with Xmax at-least double all woofer(s) Xmax will work.
A PR max weight is said to be its Mms x3

PR Systems - tight focus with key parameters.
PR Speaker Design - thorough coverage.

This is BS for sure unless we are missing something in the story. But with what is being told, then yes, very poor form.

Great! But it shouldn't take Rory reading a thread to get it right. I hope PE has addressed this internally, but we will leave that up to them.

new tweeter in . i listened to them all last night and i think we're there . i may try going down on the padding for a couple days just to have a listen but at this point think we got it just right . still need to get the XO's onto boards , thinking of using peg board but its the one thing we don't have in the shop . also i need to figure out what size trailer hitch ***** i want to use for feet and get those , but we're real close to breaking down and finishing ...

a few thoughts : these are everything thing i was looking for . clean , accurate , big , loud and amp friendly . i'm really happy so far and honestly can't stop smiling . :D
