i got tables and stands that i could use , 4' would be tough but 2-3 is doable . i also have a 1/2 sheet of ply that could simulate a floor ?

When I measure in the house, the drivers are 4' off the floor, which is really adequate for most x-over work. That's a big speaker, and could hurt you if it falls on you. I use a 6' ladder when I measure outdoors.

In addition to everything rpb suggested ... when I first started using my Win8 laptop with HOLM, I was getting measurements that looked a lot like yours. The top end was clearly not measuring correctly. The problem in my case turned out to be that HOLM was actually using the built-in laptop webcam mic instead of my Blue Icicle/Dayton mic. For some reason, only one (out of three) of the USB inputs on my laptop will allow the Icicle, if I use either of the other two USB inputs HOLM can't see the Icicle. Once I figured that out, everything was OK.

i know that my machine has 3 different USB ports that run at different rates and my mic does work better plugged into 1 of the 2 that is higher rate . also i hook up to my Onyko amp via HDMI and i think it then bypasses my sound card all together for playback ?

Check the edit above, and this picture.

Your card might have a line in as well as a mic in. One of my cards or computers worked better with one than the other. I'm not sure which. I believe it was a computer that I no longer have or use.

Somewhere there may be a setting that tells the soundcard to take whatever signal comes into the mic, and send it out the output. This has to be turned off. Otherwise when the mic picks up say the 300 hz sweep signal after a 4ms delay, the soundcard mixes that signal back into the signal being sent to the speaker while its trying to produce 500 hz. So the signal sent to the speaker is corrupted. I made up the numbers, but hopefully you understand the idea.

Speak into the mic, and see if you hear your voice come out of the speaker. It should not!

Look at this soundcard output settings. I have the mic input turned off. This may be your issue, or one of them anyway.
