That's quite a compliment coming from you, Bill...thanks. I thought the rows of ceiling lights were fluorescent and the pennant lights were incandescent. There was a good deal of natural light bleeding in from the windows too, so a good mixture of light overall. You would have had a lot of fun shooting at FirstBuild.

The lights were these new GE lights, I thought they were incredible...

You might want to take a look at how much BSC is applied; in my personal builds it's 3 to 3.5 dB. I can't rule out the possibility, though, that I just don't hear very well, of course.

Sorry Paul, hopefully my comment didn't offend. Wasn't saying there's anything wrong with the MLTL design, I just thought the venue wasn't particularly nice to some of the lower bass frequencies.

Boy did I fudge that one up....you're 100% correct. Why would a cutting edge place like that have anything else but LED lighting?? Ha....but the pennants did have regular floods in them. I stand corrected on the ceiling lighting. :o

I wasn't offended one iota. Rather I personally think some people use too much BSC in their designs which can sometimes lead to significantly different results in different venues. I say this based on experience with my personal builds sounding the same (to me) in vastly different venues. I don't know for a fact this is due to the amount of BSC, but that's the primary thought I have. I model all TLs with the same processes and goals and "rules" for myself and others, but I have no control on crossover designs others use.

Thanks, Matt & Bryan. Those are some cool looking light fixtures.
I was reading the spec sheets and this new technology looks perfect
for use in photography. Those colors really pop. When the prices
of LED fixtures come down to my level, I'll have to check into this
              further.

I noticed the finish on be orange chairs plywood desk was excellent. You couldn't feel the plys or grain at all. Can someone from first build comment on how they were finished.

                    • Re: 2014 ky diy

Wow...what a great show!! Before I share some stats from the video stream lemme thank Eric and Adam and the boys from FirstBuild - Tim and Brian especially. Brian made it possible to video stream the event using state of the art equipment from the venue which is why the stream was so good. More on that in a bit. FirstBuild is a crazy nice venue...OMG - it doesn't get much better than that for a DIY Audio Show. I'm not gonna comment specifically on the projects because I'm not good at it but IMO, Adam's OB with Ripole Sub build was my favorite of the day.....not only sounded great but it was a world class woodworking build.

It was a blast to hang with Jinjuku's family at their place and devour some awesome brisket...well done my man...well done. If there's any money in the till for street lights in your neighborhood, I highly suggest appropriating some funds for such. I might be a city boy, but my god...it was dark around there.

Hanging with Craig, Mike and Matt at the hotel was pure fun. It helps when you've got $12K in front end equipment to listen to (thanks again, Craig) and the $20 or so in beer helped...LOL. Seriously though....good times...priceless.

After the show several of us gathered at a local micro-brew and Ani, his wife and mom also joined us....great time. Ani, I have no clue how you manage a 12hr road trip with your wife and mom but god bless you.

I'm sure I forgot to thank somebody...I always do. Sorry for that.

On to the video stream stats, which were also shared with the sponsors. They love this stuff and so do we (MAC)...it's why we bother and it's why JR and I created Midwest Audio Club in the first place.

The event video stream, using the in-house equipment from FirstBuild was a success, with over 110 unique viewers from 24 US states and 6 countries. The states are as follows (in order of number of viewers- high to low): US-WI, US-IL, US-KY, US-CA, US-OH, US-NE, US-VA, US-MD, US-GA, US-IA, US-MS, US-NY, US-TN, US-TX, US-IN, US-WV, US-WA, US-AZ, US-SD, US-NC, US-FL, US-PA, US-ME, US-MA. The countries represented (excl USA) are: Canada, Great Britain, Ireland, Vietnam, Spain, and Italy.

We also had huge traction via our social media channels. DIY Audio is alive and well and events like this validate it.

Already looking forward to next year....and JR will be there too. Make plans now to hide the wives and children and lock the liqueur cabinets.
                      Bryan K.

Hey guys, I've got a favor to ask. For those that were at the event, you heard the pitch about what we do at FirstBuild, it is mainly focused on appliances but I want to work on an audio project! I posted the following idea up on the FirstBuild website, take a look, if you like it vote it up so I can build it:

I want to make a modern console stereo, using the Econowave design that I presented at the event for the speakers with active electronics, custom amps and connectivity for source material.
