  • Precursor: "Nephila"....

This early morning Matt and myself are very happy listening to my latest effort. (crazy night owls...)
A tower based on the HiVi F6 and Airborne RT-5002.

I've loved the mids from the F6 since I first heard them in 2006 in Shawn's 'Pluggers'. This is my first time actually owning a pair and seeing what they are truly capable of. I'm very pleased!!! Matt is too!

These will make their visual debut at Meniscus next weekend, although naked and not completely finished in terms of construction.

Morphine, G&R, Nirvana, Nu Shooz, Bangles, Jennifer Warnes, etc- they've played with aplomb.
Can't wait to take them next weekend,

I can't wait to hear the ones I helped you with in November....

At the shindig next weekend, Eric DeYoung is bringing an MTM with the F6 and an SB29 dimple dome.
Mattsk8 is bringing the 'Spitfire', with the L6 and an AMT.

Should be a nice comparison with those projects,

Cool project Ben but it looks like the F6 actually over hangs the baffle roundover. Probably just the angle of the camera shot.

Actually- yes, it does! I bought the PE knock-downs for this project, and the roundover was already there. If I were to have cut the panels myself, they would have a smaller roundover there.
Not much I can do about it in this case except cut out a chunk, and replace with a new piece. I just chose to leave it alone, as it doesn't really look that bad. It's about 1/8" past on both edges.
Once you get the gasket on the rear of the driver attached, it fills in the gap and looks okay, and it's black, so nothing sticks out visually.

I think the woofer matches quite well with the Airborne RT-5002 which looks much like the Dayton.

Use small wedge of wood or MDF and sand it to fit the hangover.

The Dayton AMT looks close, but they are in fact different units.

Not too much gap in between, so that's hard to do. It'd be easier to cut out and replace it.
