  • Anarchy builds?

Out of sheer curiosity, I was wondering if anybody could point me to some two and three way Anarchy builds. I am dreaming up a build to stick with for a while to build within the next year or so (post baby), and the Anarchy is such a tempting woofer.

There's an odd shaped TM surround to match.

I'll be working on a 3 way around the Anarchy soon too with many of the same design goals of the Nebbiolo I recently completed, but easier to build. A lot easier, I hope, and at least as good in the sound department.

        Re: Anarchy builds?

There are some threads on another forum, but I will have to find them.

The design I purchased (via a donation to a good cause) is a small ported 2-way designed by Rick Craig (of Selah Audio).

It calls for a 0.75 ft^3 cabinet and uses the Exodus Anarchy 6.5" for the low end and a Dayton Audio RS28F-4 1-1/8" Silk Dome Tweeter.

Hong - a member of this forum - also has his own design for the Anarchy (two per side, I believe). I've heard it and, as with all things Hong, came away very impressed.

Ive been eyeballing the ansonica and will be highly interested is the nebbiolo anarchy build if the cabinet is going to be easier! The nebbiolo is my favorite diy build so far (didnt hear it at indy) but did at chicago and its amazing.

Wow. Just the other day I was drawing up a large-sized (30L) bookhelf/HT speaker using two Anarchys and the Peavey Versarray tweeter that was on sale. I call it the Peavarchy... was bored

I simmed the 'Meteorites' last week. Don't know if I'll build it or not, but the sibling 'Xenolith' with the DC160S4 will be.

I'm curious, has anyone measured one of the 8Ω DIYSG Anarchies?

Often different runs of the same driver can differ, and I'm curious to know what the currently-available Anarchies look like.

They're the same as when Kevin from diycable was getting them made up.

                    Re: Anarchy builds?

I would expect each production run is slightly different. Different QC emphases in production, different batches of cones/spiders/surrounds, etc.

Certainly Kevin's Maelstrom-X was slightly different in every run (some differences planned, some discovered after the fact).

Which is why I'm curious to see field measurements of drivers your run. A pair would go a long way to making my center channel better.

The Maelstrom and his other subwoofers were done at a different manufacturer than the Anarchy. That's why it was continued even after the subwoofers were not The Anarchy is actually produced at a company that makes some very good stuff for some really high end companies. QC is way up there.

Anyone old enough to remember the Audiopro B2-50 subwoofer? I'd be interested in designing something like it using a pair of Anarchy woofers.......... I have some ideas.

I think you misunderstand my intention. I'm just saying that as a general rule different production runs of any given driver vary slightly.

If ScanSpeak brought back a driver I was interested in, I'd be asking the same question.

I'm surprised nobody's posted any measurements for your Anarchies.

                            Re: Anarchy builds?

I bought a pair of the 8 Ohm from Erich's Last run (I Believe) a few months ago. I have had them running on my bench for about 200hrs. My intent is to measure them soon. I have just been too busy with my 4 year old helping me remodel our deck and teaching him some basic carpentry. Scary, he is only 4 and he can already handle a hammer, use a square and drill a straight hole.
I also haven't had a chance to set up my new measuring gear which will take a while to work out the kinks. At any rate I bought them intension of adding a mid-bass driver to an existing OB 3-way design I did a few years back to make it an active 4-way. Mostly an experiment. They look like a quality driver. Like mini versions of the DPL-10s I bought from Kevin years ago. Those serve as the Bass drivers in the existing OB design. I was so happy with them that after discussing it with Kevin I bought the Anarchy's for mid-bass duty.
