Seems these have dropped off the map. I went to both Meniscus and Madisound to see if they were available yet but they're no longer listed.
Anyone know what happened to them?

I was not aware that these were ever on either website.

I don't think they're available yet, but soon. You can check for confirmation though.

I'm curious how this compares to a Seas 22TFF which is the tweeter I've always considered a poor man's Hiquphon. I hope someone does some testing once it hits the market.

I really like the seas 3/4 inch tweeters, but after living with the hiq's for a couple of years, the seas are not in the same class.

OT: Really, any idea when? Looking at a Seas 8" mag for my next build, that could be a game changer...

I used OWIII's in a couple different projects about 12-14 years ago and liked them a lot. However, at $126 each they have a whole lot of competition today. I've not used the 22TFF personally, but in the designs I've heard them in, I've always been impressed by the very wide dispersion and smooth clear response. Jeff Bagby made the comment in a recent thread that with today's tweeters, once you get to the $35 - $50 range, the performance starts to blur and favorites become very subjective. I agree with that. Ribbons are my favorites but they don't work everywhere.

I'm going to try to attend a few more DIY events next year since I'm now retired. I hope our paths cross. I always enjoy listening to your designs.

i agree that is a lot of money for a tweeter. like i posted before, i do really like the 3/4 seas, but the hiq's just do everything a little better. more stable sound stage, sustain on cymbals sounds more realistic, lower treble a little more "meat". i have a nice little 2 way using the seas i will bring to the next diy event, it is also very nice.
as far as the price of tweeters, i hope you also remember Jeff stating that the SS9900 where some of his favorite tweeters, as long as the Raals being very good, so definitely not in the less than $ 50.00 range. speaking of ribbons, some time during the up coming year i will have a very high end 3 way design using a ribbon. i think you will like it.

There will be a design or two using a new ribbon making the midwest circuit in 2015, Jim. It is the production model of the tweeter Mike Z. used in his purple all metal tower. I think you will like it
