  • American manufactured drivers

Looking to put together an all-american set of speakers. I'm pretty set of Silver Flute woofers (pretty sure they're American, but not certain). Any ideas regarding tweets and x-over parts? Thanks!

Eclipse W6520R is US built as are a lot of Eminence drivers. Transducer labs tweeters are designed and assembled in the US as well. Meniscus inductors are wound by them in MI. Not sure about their resistors but the zisters are very nice pieces.

If you're after truly 'American Made' drivers there are very few, if any. Even those assembled here are constructed from mainly Asian sourced components.

SF is Asian made. Look up www.yindi.com (I think).

Most parts are made overseas with very few exceptions. At least the drives I listed are BUILT here.

Except for the new HT series, the frames are Chinese.

Great Plains Audio. Are they using USA made components?

That's mostly true of just about everything these days. All US "manufacturers" must do to legally label their products "Made in USA" is assemble a few pieces together. One example is automobile amplifiers. A US company can buy the completed boards, screws, heatsinks, bottom covers and brand labels... a few screws to hold it all together and BAM!! Their amps are all "Made in USA". Many workers can assemble one of these amp kits in about thirty seconds. Even those amps "Designed in USA"... the so-called manufacturer sends design specs such as distortion, power ratings, basic configuration, etc. and a Korean company will do all the hard work with board layout and construction. For the most part, "Designed in USA" and "Made in USA" are things long lost in the past. There are exceptions but they're few and far between.

It's a global economy. We buy from them, they buy from us. Lots of US companies and farmers can't survive without exporting their goods abroad.
