I've searched, but couldn't find it ... somewhere in here I did a before and after measurement with/without hot gluing the exciter to a brace. IIRC, the results were favorable.

OK, finished. I ended up gluing the panel to the canvas using spray adhesive. Worked pretty good. retained the high's except maybe above 15khz and got rid of the weird peak at about 2khz when I was using the foam in the corners to hold the panel in. Not a lot of bass, but the panels are only about 13" x 17" good enough for surrounds I think though. Now I just have to figure out how to mount to the wall and run wires.
Anyone know of a battery powered transmitter/receiver setup for surrounds so there are no wires of any kind to deal with?

As some of you know, I'm one of the few on here that uses corrugated plastic as a panel material.
I don't bother much with measurements anymore. For me, what looks good doesn't a!ways sound good. Anyway, I just wanted to say that I learned something interesting about the corrugated plastic panels and how it affects sound quality.
One day while running pink noise through a panel, I placed the palm of my hand on the top edge, partially covering the flutes. The pink noise sounded "different", smoother, less hollow to my ears..
The hollow sound is something I was trying to notch out with my Mini DSP. Anyway, I sealed off the fluted ends, top and bottom and found the sound to be smoother, less hollow.
I don't try to run the exciters full range and treat them more like an ESL. For me, there's no point in running bass through them. They would have to be huge and the exciters fail easily with low frequencies.
It can be a little frustrating when I compare the exciter panels to my Magnepans. But, on their own with a subwoofer, it doesn't take long to be not only satisfied, but totally entertained with the sound.
On a side note, I bought a pair of Tectonic BMR drivers from PE (297-2156).
These things are pretty cool for a small room, 81 db SPL makes them very inefficient. That said, they sound pretty nice and have a really large sweet spot, similar to to a DML.“In my walks, every man I meet is my superior in some way, and in that I learn from him.”

BMR's technology came from DML technology just using different designs.
DML= Exciter, free floating
BMR= Exciter, plus a spline and brace to support and hold the exciter in place.

Do you have any particular suggestions for dampening?
I thought about some kind of half round rubber hose material, with thin flexible walls, the sort used on high excursion subwoofers.

I just joined this very interesting forum & learned quite a bit, so much so that I more or less the path to my first DML panel build is clear. I would like to know if anybody has tried, or has an opinion about the DAEX32Q-8 exciter. I will be using an 8 Ohm amplifier so I am constrained to use this exciter. The panel I am thinking about will be small, around 2 x 2' with a single exciter so the exciter needs to be 8 Ohms.

So far, the exciters I've played around with are very easily driven. If your amp has any grunt at all I wouldn't think there'd be a problem.  With that said, there is one of those cheap Sure 2x50 watt amps laying here that hates anything remotely approaching a difficult load, so YMMV.   Â

Although most 8ohm receivers/amps seem to be able to handle and drive 4ohm exciters its not ideal and could have some long term negative effects.
I hope Dayton will make more 8ohm exciters in the future like a 8ohm high flux, thruster and Ultra.

During this 3 day memorial weekend I had some time to spare so I built a pair of DML satellite speakers just for fun and it turned out way better then I expected utilizing only one exciter per panel with the panel being very small for a DML panel with the dimensions of it being 10inch wide by 15 inch tall.....Bass is very limited due to a smaller panel and using a very small exciter but the mids and highs are exceptional....Spl output level is also limited due to using a very small exciter but can play loud enough for me in a small 8 X10 computer room...I use my receivers cross over set to 100hz so the speakers can play louder with a cheap 8inch energy sub to handle the low frequencies under 100 hz.
My family came over for a visit and my cousin seen me tinkering with my small dml panel and he started talking about his new polk signature s15 speakers he recently bought and how good they sound blah blah blah ….then I started to play my DML sat speakers with the energy sub and he was blown away saying they sounded better then his polks that he paid around $200.00 bucks for.....He said the imaging and detail was better then his polks. He thought I paid over $100 in speaker driver parts including cross over but I told him I am using just 1 exciter full range no crossover (I use my receivers high pass crossover) per panel and each exciter only cost me 2 bucks....He thought I was lying so I showed him my order form. LOL
He couldn't believe a 2 dollar exciter can produce this type of quality sound.....I told him although this is a good exciter its all dependent and based mostly on ones DESIGN....This single exciter design is what I have learned from building my bigger 2 way Bertagni type design and is based similar to it....

Has anyone on here thought to try an exciter connected to a segmented sphere as an omnidirectional speaker.
I have seen some DIY videosnon YouTube, but they seem to be some sort of modified loudspeaker voice coil and magnef assembly.
