  • MFW driver

I all, I have left one of the mfw driver, I'd like to build a vented enclosure with the same spec of the original cabinet, but with a round vent.
If I am not wrong it shoud be 3cf net, with a port of 4" and length of circa 14".
    Can anyone help?

      Re: MFW driver

IIRC, it was a 15" Eminence sub driver that GR research did a buyout sale with. Old AV123 stuff. I poked around but didn't find any specs. Airliner could probably find the specs, there were several projects done with it.

          Re: MFW driver

That "works" (I'd probably go longer, up to 18" long). But then, I'd use a pair of 4"id port tubes, each one being 38" long, but that's just me.

He!!, if it were me, I'd just go 6cf w/a pair of 4"ports that were 20" long (each). Probably good for another 8Hz, at least.

            Re: MFW driver

I have 4.5cf gross, the original design had similar dimension with a long slot port, I would reproduce using round flared port

Is your net > 3cf then? If so, I'd probably change the tune a bit.

Where would you bring the tuning freq? 25?
I forgot to tell both driver and vent should be downfiring

Hi, yes I saw it, that's why I am asking the tune you suggest
                    Thanks Marc

                      Re: MFW driver

I don't really care what your gross is. I'd have to know your net cf to give a credible answer.

Sorry, now I got it! I made calculation again and it is approx 4cf.

                          Re: MFW driver

Fb = 22Hz. For 4 net cf, I'd use a pair of 4"id by 32" long port tubes.
Should make it down to 30Hz w/out TOOO much "lift" (which it still has, between 50-60Hz).
