The DSP amplifier design is just something Meniscus asked me to do for people who want to go in this direction.
    Thanks, again Jeff!

I have waited this long, so I can wait for the end result which I am positive won't disappoint.

Above all else, my goal was to make a bass section that performs at the same level as the Kairos and I am proud to put my name on.I will definitely try not to disappoint.

Are you serious....? Disappoint? I really don't think that is possible. There are so many of us on this Forum and others that appreciate you and all the other guys here who provide us with great designs. I for one am very thankful!

However, I do see and agree that adding a sub considered to be just average to the pristine sounding Karios would not be your approach.

I really like the Karios. and with the Sub, I believe I will have a 2 channel system that I can use from now on.

Cool thing about this bass module. You could use it with any 2-way you wanted. Mandolin, Piccolo, Kairos, Continuum. Granted, it will be most suited to 2-way TM designs due to height.

I am thinking about adapting this into the world's first Mandolin 3-way. And then later on I can "upgrade" to Kairos if I need to. Waiting for some more details but this seems awesome...
Esp. since Jeff has so many good 2-way TM designs already.

You could also do this with speedster, Overnight sensation, etc. Now granted, depending on how you power it, there may be some additional level matching necessary.

the passive STILL allows you to use a separate amp for the subs. You can then tweak the relative level, which can be important to a lot of people. And amplifier power is cheap.

Also, I am going to send you a quick PM about the Kairos on a topic that might not be kosher for the forums. thanks again.
              !
No, at this time Erich will not have cabinets for this module. This project is being created in association with Meniscus Audio, as was the case with the Kairos and several other speakers I have done. The Continuum is different; it is mine to license as I wish. I don't feel the same way about the Kairos, although there has never been any specific agreements or conditions set, it's just how I feel about the situation since Meniscus asked me to do the design.

Re: Continuum vs. Kairos vs. Adelphos vs. Solstice

I keep posting this on different threads so I'll try here. I'm thinking of a smallish 2-way using the Transducer Lab N26MGR-G (MgO) tweeter. Mid-bass drivers on my list include the CSS VWR126X, AC 130 F1, Vifa/Tymphany NE series and SB Satori series. I am REALLY curious though about the Motus UH130PW1. My idea is to get very accurate mid/bass and mids. to match the TL tweeter but to keep the costs lower than say Revelators, Excel, Accuton, etc. I'm just beginning to do my research and am after other's opinions on subjective sound quality of these mid-bass drivers (listed above). I do all of my own designs and don't copy anyone else, BUT, I like to read what others have done and what the testing and reviews are. Box size and alignment not yet decided, 4 or 8 (or even 6) Ohm impedences are all OK. Size range 130 to 180 (5 to 7 inch). Thanks ahead for any info, opinions, experiences, etc. And, if anyone knows of some testing links of the Motus 130; please share (I'm finding very little about the Motus so far)

Wow, this is great news Jeff! I'll hold off building stands for the moment then, because basically these could be stands, right? Do you think May or June is possible?

Yes, these will serve as stands.
Hopefully by the end of May.

Jeff, What sort of dimensions are you looking at with the bass modules. I'm thinking of using them to go with my 2 ways in development and seeing how they might integrate with my project
                        Thanks,

My Continuum kit is waiting for a larger friend to play with. Have you finalized your design?

For a passive application I need to meet a specific sensitivity, I needed it to work in a predetermined enclosure, and I wanted it to be able to reach into the 20's to make it worthwhile. Since the drivers in the Kairos are pretty advanced I didn't want to just use an inexpensive standard motor woofer, but I didn't need to break the bank either. For example, I considered the new Morel Supreme subwoofer drivers, which use the same motor that's in Magico speakers, but I decided those were a bit costly to sell well. I also considered the SB29NRX, which was a good candidate, but in the end I went with the CSS SDX-10. It was the most ideal driver at meeting all of my requirements. It will also function very well sealed or vented, so it can accommodate different tastes that way too. I didn't feel an 8" driver was enough to really meet my goals in the bass; I usually don't care much for 8" three-ways. I considered a 12" driver, and found some that would work, but for the most part the SDX-10 met my goals better, and it can go deep and move quite a bit of air to make up for the size.

My DSP plate amp arrived today. Now I just need to read up and figure out how to program it.

Jeff, I can't wait to hear these!! If you don't mind me asking, would you care to elaborate on why you chose the CSS over the SB29? I'm just curious really, this is the first I've seen the CSS SDX-10, and the numbers between it and the SB29 are pretty close (and maybe that's the reason you chose it, the CSS is about $30 cheaper/sub than the SB29).

I am in the midst of it now. I was delayed on starting due to some health issues, but at this time I am back working on speakers again.

From actual measured parameters the SDX-10 models better in a small sealed enclosure in terms of F3. I also like the XBL^2 motor with its 18 mm of Xmax, which is better than the SB. And the cost difference also factors in. Before making this choice I talked to Bob and Mark and made sure SDX-10's would be available for the design for builders. Everything appears to be in order. I just need to finish it up.
