I'm surprised the FR turned out so flat with only an inductor on the woofer. Nice job as always!

Krylon textured paint in their “Stone” series called “Obsidian”.
How is that to work with?

I have been looking for a cheap small desktop speaker and these just might fit the bill...but I am going to have a hard time getting over the silver on the speaker.

Everyone I've ever talked to about DIY speakers has asked about little or computer speakers.
Didn't feel like doing another NS3 build.

Thanks once again for another of your designs!

I wish you have posted these 3 days ago when I placed an order with P-E! The price is right and I have most of the XO parts on hand. Oh well...:applause:

These look great. I too am tired of my old plastic box PC speakers, and I have a spare DTA-120 amp...hmmmm. Thanks for the design and sharing.

Everything you need is in that showcase thread. If you need tiny speakers, these are great.

I'm going to bring them to the Indiana gathering for everyone to check out.

Congrats, Jeff! Those look awesome. Feels like everyone is doing something with those PE knock down cabs. Since I posted my mariposa's (one of the first to use them, I think), I've seen the Choti's, Heliums, PEDS, and I'm sure some others.

I look forward to hearing them.

cute little speaker, you could probably do the same with the FE85 and forget about the tweeter all together, I'm using one from about 700 on up like the (Boenicke W5 http://www.6moons.com/audioreviews/boenicke5/1.html), sounds fine.

I tested the speaker first without a tweeter, and although it measured pretty flat on axis it didn't sound very open to me. The addition of the tweeter made a huge difference in quality and openness in my opinion, enough that I feel it is worth the added expense.

Yeah I've not tried the fe83, I use my 85's mid-far field, and with the slightly rise in the high end don't toe the in as much so they sound pretty good, actually pretty big. But either way it's amazing what you can do with little money and small package
