  • Hey AZ and SoCal brothers, it's Party Time!

So, this is totally short notice, and quite impromptu, but to celebrate my 50th birthday I'm hosting a little party/speaker get together at my house on May 2nd. My wife got me a smoker for my birthday, so I'm going to smoke some meats, we have darts and a spa, and I'd love for people to bring projects to listen to and guitars to play, and I'm ordering the Pacquiao-Mayweather PPV to top off the evening. We'll start around 1 PM, and end whenever it feels like the end, and we have guest rooms if anyone needs to crash for the night. Bring your own favorite beverage, but we'll have beer, soda and water. Feel free to bring spouses and significant others, my wife (and I) would love to meet them/see them again!

    Anyone interested?

Reply here, or PM me, if you have my number shoot me a text.

    The more the merrier!

I would like to get together with some AZ guys at some point since I'm fairly new to the area. That Saturday my wife and I each have work parties though.

BBQ, boxing, speakers and beer. Sounds terrible. I'll be there.

I've been having fun with my ugly drum smoker, what did you get?

Absolutely, bring speakers! Not required of course, this is just for fun!

Rob, I got a Brinkmann Mini Offset, I find the name semi-ironic, since I'll be able to smoke a pair of turkeys side by side on the thing. It IS smaller than its big brother, though.;) I'm doing the curing process right now, it'll be good to go.

Don, will do. I wish you lived closer too.

If you're referring to mine as the big brother, actually two turkeys is more than it can handle. It's big in volume, but doesn't have a ton of cooking area. You can layer thin things (ribs) well enough though.

It can cook that one turkey pretty durn good though. Click image for larger version

No, I was referring to the "standard" Brinkmann offset. You could smoke half a pig on that thing.

Well I was about to google "Brinkman Mini-Offset speakers" before I realized my mistake...

I'm a Phoenix local and I'd love to meet up with some other DIY speaker folks, but I'm going to be out of town for this one.

I'll be there. The dilemma is whether I bring speakers or guitars, trunk space is somewhat limited.

Bring speakers. I have an extra guitar for you to play, and we might not actually get the chance to play guitars, since it seems this might actually be a fairly crowded party. But speakers will be played for sure. Bring 'em.

Ok, fight festivities start at 6PM local. We're planning on a big smoked pork roast, with chicken enchiladas and possibly a rack of ribs to back it up. I'll be making my world (ok, locally:D) famous salsa, and we'll have my mother-in-law's kickass baked beans.

Again, 1PM is doors open, that's our five hour window for speaker geekerage.

                              Can't wait to see everyone!
