My Iron Driver entry was a 2-way designed around the SB19 iron driver tweeter and Peerless 830875 6.5" Nomex woofer.

Some of the design features:
.8 cu. ft. ported 2-way tuned to 47 Hz
24 db/oct 2500Hz crossover (18 db/oct electrical)
Braced ½” birch plywood cabinet with removable bottom
Quarter sawn cherry veneer
Watco Danish Oil finish (Natural)
My design goal was to find the best woofer I could afford coupled with a 24 db/oct crossover and still stay under the $225 budget. As many of you know I've built a number of speakers over the years with the Peerless HDS line and was actually hoping to try a different driver this time around. It just turned out I couldn't find something that modeled as well as the Peerless and stay in budget. Another goal was to build a light system and they came in at 17 lbs each. Total cost for drivers and crossover parts came in just under $215.
The boxes were made of 1/2 Baltic birch plywood with dado joints and slots cut to receive 1/4" stiffeners for cross bracing and battens to fasten the removable bottoms to.

Glue Up

Gluing in the battens. The short strips have the ends cut at a slight angle so they can be tipped into the slot in the box.
