First of all, I'd like to thank all participants for taking part in this competition. It takes dedication, commitment and guts!
This years competitors show good deal of attention to the non linear performance (with the exception of 1) and majority of the differences and coloration was in the linear department. Basically, all systems had low distortions and varying frequency response.
How were the measurements taken.
On axis far field response was taken at 80cm-1m. 5msc gating.
Port and the woofer were measured near field with the mic position either at terminus of the port or at 1cm away from the woofer diaphragm. 500msc gating
Distortions were taken near field as well. While the input voltage was 2.8, the mic gain was adjusted so do not look at distortion measurements as absolute. They are only there to show potential problems like un-dampened resonances or badly executed crossovers.
The near and far field responses were then spliced with addition of the port output and individually calculated diffraction.
Mic: calibrated Earthworks M30
Software: Sound Easy V19
The SPL is relative.
I am going to go from the lower scoring speakers first and continue to the winners and will add pictures from Mrs's camera later.
