Re: "RP"-- Recently Playing... Whatcha Got??

I am currently listening to the new Faith No More album Sol Invictus.
Have also found a older album from HR of the Bad Brains. Most of his solo albums were aimed towards reggae but this one was a little more metal/jazz/funk and just a little reggae. skip to 1min to avoid intro

Funny I just started a thread where I ponder why I noticed such a sharp drop in music since 1990, actually I feel that it started the gradual decline around 1987 and was in full effect by 1990.

I can sit and listen to early to mid 1980's all and and night. Don't own anything after 2003 except a john Mayer album, Coldplay, and Norah jones. And I rarely listen to those.

Chris issaks heart shaped world, eagles, Tracy chapman, and Sade are always playing in my player. I use YouTube to find the great 80's songs I don't own.

I think some of you guys need to get away from the mainstream stuff. It is 99% garbage these days IMO. Almost all mainstream music is POP music anymore and I won't even get started on how much I dislike POP music

Were you born in the '57-'60 time frame? I heard that streaming music statistics show that most people tend to stop listening to anything new after they are around 33. Of course it isn't universally true, I was born in '56, and you can see my list above.

I dunno, I've been stuck in a rock loop, switching between Van Halen - Best Of Volume I and Billy Idol - Rebel Yell discs... not my normal routine and not sure why. Maybe its because I just went over the hill and hit 40?

Don't say that! I am 31 and am already feeling the "this new music is crap" syndrome. ;) Although, with the vast availability of music from everywhere these days, I find that there is always something new covering all styles and tastes, and I honestly don't think that I'll ever truly stop listening to new music, just not so much the popular stuff them young whipper snappers are in to.

I just posted in another thread about how I seem to let my wife find our "new music".
Then I come here, and this guy^ mentions "The Steepwater Band". Hmm, I like bands with the word "band" in their name, so I check it out, and wow are these guys good. With the help of others I have found new music. TIS A BIG DAY.
