I've come up with mods for the Dayton B652 and T652 speakers that I would like to offer DIY and/or as a finished product, but the cost of the high-valuewoofer inductors is a cost killer. I know a lot of inexpensive commercial speakers (like the Andrew Jones-designed Pioneer BS-22's) use high AWG (thin) steel laminates that perform satisfactorily. I've tried to find a source for them, but all that seems to be available are the Erse (Parts Express) and Madisound 15 - 18 AWG that are too big and expensive for this application. Does anyone happen to know how to get hold of smaller, cheaper, and thinner gauge steel laminates? Thanks, Dennis Murphy

Re: Cheap steel laminate inductors?
Goldwood has a line of cheap cored inductors similar to what you'd find in a lot of entry level commercial gear:

Have you used these Howard? Wonder if the DCR is accurate. It looks like 20AWG wires are used, so what about the power handling?

The fellow I talked to a few days ago did not mention a thing about this other entity, just that they were out of stock and would be for a while. I wonder what is going on with these people!?

Re: Cheap steel laminate inductors?
MCM has some lower cost 22-24 ga inductors. Ferrite instead of steel laminate core if you can live with that.
