  • Jeff's Bass Module Build Questions and Answers!!

Ok, so I am building the module for the Karios and I also have some questions for you guys.

What kind of ply are you using?

I am considering particle board, since local ply is not so good here.

    Will you use any stuffing?

Is the contour of the Karios important in appearance to continue along those lines?

Or did you choose the Adelphos? Or the Continuum or using it with something else.

Get it rolling......while Jeff is away!!! (:

Some of us don't have any specs. We do use Russian Birch ply.
I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now.

It seems to me that maybe we should wait until Jeff has the write-up ready first.

why do you have to let all the small details like finishing the write get in the way. I just do not understand you anymore.

Did Jeff just refer to himself in the third person? The Steve loves doing that and tries to do it every chance he gets.

Shhhhhhhh, do not tell my wife, or I will be in trouble....love Dennis' speakers still have the center 2 seas/fountek.

These will be in "MY" room not the family room. So that changes everything. Anyway the Karios Combo is smaller than the Philharmonics.....maybe. Dennis really designs great speakers, though.

So, Marvin what is your choice of wood for a subwoofer cab?

                    Thanks,

                    Robert

Does the flying buttress (in the drawing) have an acoustic function or is it just decorative?

Robert. A number of speakers use particle board. If you are going to go that route, I believe MDF is more dense, and therefore-better. It also is void-free whereas particle board can have some voids and kind of rough edges. Depends what type of particle board you get.
                        Best-engineered and treated plywood
                        Better- Baltic birch ply
less good- OSB, home depot plywood, etc.

Thanks, Dan, I did check Lowes and HD and did find one ply without any void showing on the outside...all the others had lots.

What do you mean by treated? engineered?

I noticed that Woodcraft had a good baltic birch with very few voids and shipping wasn't that steep. It is on sale right now through the 23rd.

Shipping has been one of my issues, plus the high cost of the ply.

Oh, Lowes has Top Choice Hardwood Sanded Plywood with few voids in 3/4.

                          Thanks.
