  • How to remove woofers that are too tight in the box?

I have a couple of woofers in boxes that I can't remove because they are too tight. Any suggestions on how to remove them?

Apply ice to the area and the swelling should subside in 30-45 minutes, and then never buy gas station "male enhancement" pills again.

I'm not sure what you mean by too tight in the box, but threading a bolt through one of the mounting holes and gently tightening it will usually pop the woofer off the surface.

Plug any ports, then play some low freq sine waves so the drivers have some excursion, see if they work themselves loose?

Leave the screws in, but only a couple of turns when doing this. Otherwise your woofer may fall out all the way.

Take out the tweeter and push the woofers magnet with a tool.

If all of the above suggestions fail, as a last resort

The Husky 4-Piece Precision Pick and Probe Set features 6 in. tools outfitted with ergonomic grips that allow firm hold and superb controllability. These affordable instruments are useful for positioning

You will likely have minor damage to the surface around the woofer hole, but it wont be anything that cant be repaired.

You can build up more pressure by leaving the ports open.

Good point, just have to run the tone at the box's tuning frequency.

Drill a small hole directly behind the woofer that is stuck and use a dowel wood or metal depending on how bad it is. After you try the loose screw and low frequency trick... I would try all low frequencies starting at the bottom.

You need to better explain what 'too tight' means.

I cut the rebate hole with no tolerance. The woofers were a press fit and now I can't get them back out.

One of them is a RS225-8 but the other is a SS 18W/4531G and I really don't want to damage it.

Tolerance is necessary with any wood. But thats spilt milk now.
