I need a 1000 watt plate amp. Which do you prefer?

    I need a 1000 watt plate amp. Which do you prefer?

    As far as I can tell, PE only carries the SPA1000.

    Do you know of others?

    Would it be better to go with a non-plate sub amp?

    Advantages of rack mount:

    Sub is lighter, easier to move
    Only need to run speaker wire, not rica or power
    Easy to make adjustments to gain,x-over, eq, etc.
    Amp not subject to internal pressures or vibrations from the driver

      If you are considering alternatives, they are blowing out the 1st generation Crown XLS 1500, 2000 and 2500 on several sites.

        I have given the rack mount Dayton amp serious consideration. I elected not to go with the crown type amp for now because I want the crossover built in.

          The XLS Drivecore amps have a LP filter built in if you elect to use it.

            Oh, man! I already have the Crown XLS1500 waiting to be put in a system. I must have forgotten about the built-in crossover.

              What are you needing to power? 1,2,4,8 subs? Price per watt, you can't beat the inuke 3000dsp or 6000 dsp.

                I have multiple subs but my latest build is a RSS315HO-4 which can handle 700 watts.

                I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and start using a mini dsp.
