Re: SA70...where do I go from here.....
If mounting outside the Voxel cab, you could build the amp its own small cabinet and place it next to the Voxel. Also, another option would be to make the Voxel larger to account for the amps own separate chamber.

In regards to the outside mount, the SA70 is already in it's own box.
Thanks for your input!-Robert

Re: SA70...where do I go from here.....
take the measurements of the plate amp (cutout according to PE is 6-5/8" x 7-3/4" and is 3-1/2" deep). So take 6-5/8 times 7-3/4" and then 2-1/2" minus wood thickness (3/4") and you have 1-3/4".
Give you a total of 90 cubic inches, divide by 1728 and you get 0.052 ft3 needs to be added to the sub box to accommodate the plate amp.
Also remember to include wood thickness if you actually put it in a separate enclosure inside the box (just add to the measurements above for each dimension)
Hope that's clear enough, if not ask away.

Robert, I would be glad to cut you an enclosure as a flat pack and send it to you. I think most of the information I would need to model it is available on the "Voxel" threads. Freights not going to be to bad because I can use my company's account which is considerably cheaper than retail. I can pick up a 2'x4' MDF board at the Home Depot, should be enough to cover this. I was actually looking at building one of the "Voxels" for a future project, so I could make two of these while I was at it.

Hope that's clear enough, if not ask away.since the amp is sealed, does there need to be a wood enclosure aound the amp? As I told someone who commented why don't I design speakers, well I told them I hate math, numbers, etc. That is why my wife manages our money. LOL.
I guess what I am saying is could you give me the measurements of the entire cab?
Thanks,

Hey Kevin, that is very kind of you and I would take you up on that, but I have some 1/2" ply I really need to get rid of as there is no storage in my garage. I do have a table saw, router/bits, etc. I enjoy some woodworking. I am ready to start though, but just need some measurements on the whole cab. The Tang Band is amazing looking driver, very heavy for it's size. Again, Thanks! Robert

SA70...where do I go from here.....
I see two concerns with building the "Voxel" to Paul's specs...the amp won't fit. The amp is too wide at 7-1/2" to place the amp on the back of the box, and widening the box increases the volume and you can't really change the other parameters, because the port length can't fit.
I ran a quick SIM trying to keep the port length but in a slightly larger box. Go with the same 12" depth, same 9-1/2" height, but change the width to 7-1/2 to accommodate the plate amp (all using 1/2" material). This increases the cabinet volume to 9.3L (net) compared to a little over 7.3L in the original. using the same 1-1/2" x 9" port with double flares, you get a tuning of 38-Hz, which gives you 101-db and F3/6/10 of 34/31/29.
You will have some excursion issues down in the 32-Hz and below region at full power, but at 35 watts, it should be fine.
Here's a pic/drawing of the original design for reference. let me know your thoughts.

Re: SA70...where do I go from here.....
Just leave the amp external and build the Voxel to spec. Easy and straightforward.I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now.

Re: SA70...where do I go from here.....
Ok, so I have two options. I suppose it is a matter of choice at this point. However I am ready to make some sawdust today if possible.
I may listen to some 2 channel, but really needing the sub for movies in a small space. So, I guess the smaller the better. Ha, anything would be a huge improvement over TV speakers.
Thanks!-Robert

Re: SA70...where do I go from here.....
It is totally up to you, some prefer outboard amps, I prefer my sub being all together as one unit. Easier to move, less parts and it's only 1-1/2" wider, pretty nominal increase for convenience. Forgot to add, at 7-1/2" wide, you could "possibly" put the woofer on the front with the port, if that maters to you aesthetically or if it helps you with the placement.
Also you get slightly lower tuning, not that you would notice it too much, it's 5-Hz lower in the larger box (38 vs 43-1/2 and f3/6/10 are similar --- 34/31/28 vs 39/36/33).
Up to you, as they will both sound really nice for what they are. Be sure and post some pics.

Re: SA70...where do I go from here.....
Robert, sorry I didn't get a chance to look at this harder last night. I saw Paul's suggestion and figured you were good to go.
Paul, after studying this, it looks like you would have a problem with the port running into the plate amp. The amp recesses into the enclosure 2.75", and the port is 9" long. I am playing around with it now to see if there might be a different configuration that would accommodate all three components and stay close to the original net volume.
