I'm in the midst of a small 3-way monitor build with the drivers stated in the title. The idea is a stand-mounted 3-way with an open back for the mid:

The tweeter and mid are on a baffle that is 15 degrees from that of the woofer. Why did I did I design it this way? I have no idea, but somehow felt compelled to to do so ;) I guess the aesthetics appealed to me.

Anyway got the boxes built and popped in the drivers to take measurements:

Fired up WinPCD, latest version 1.5, and got to work. First I was eager to find the acoustic offsets, given the baffle design. Results are here.

XO freq at 400Hz and 3500Hz seemed to work best. Here are the reverse nulls; and then frequency response (black) with power response (pink):

Finally, here is the newest feature from WinPCD, the polar averages:

Now the off axis response does not look quite right. I was expecting to get falling responses as one moves further off axis and higher in frequency. I was wondering if phase info above 20KHz is required?

The off axis response looks like you didn't put in the driver diameter for the tweeter, if I had to guess.

This makes me want to revisit a horizontal monitor, again. Great build!

Thanks Guys. I had build pics, but lost them due to a corrupt microSD card in my camera :-( I'll see if I can recover some of them with software and if successful will post more pics.

I think that must be it. I didn't enter any driver diameters at all into winPCD, but of course that must be needed. Will give that a shot tonight.

Yup, I missed the section where driver diameters are entered, AND you have to press the Driver Directivity Active button too to enable this functionality. Here is a screenshot :

Fortunately I was able to recover some of the lost photos from the build phase (from a corrupt microSD card) and thought I would share in case there was any interest. First up is the baffle and side panel which together have two 15 degree angle joins. Since this is problematic for gluing and clamping I decided to use pocket hole joinery. I first did a proof of concept with spare MDF and then the real thing with the baffles panels already cut with driver holes:

The next steps were gluing the woofer box panels onto the baffle, which then became the meat/filling in a Baltic Birch sandwich (no photo). This left me with large sections of BB overhang over the tweeter+mid panels. Too big to route down, so used a saw with a piece of MDF as a guide.

Once down to manageable size, used the router with flush trim bit all around. Here is another shot of the assembled but unfinished speaker.

After crossover and voicing is done (probably a few weeks away still), I plan to finish the MDF baffle and panels with Duratex, in a DIY-tinted color. Thinking of going for chocolate brown or thereabouts. The BB will be finished unstained with many layers of wipe-on gel poly.

                          What is that?

I was under the impression that using handtools to build loudspeakers could be considered grounds for banishment to a small iceberg shared briefly with hungry polar bears on the Bering Sea. Or it would seem so.

I've seen the Anarchy's used in several builds but can't seen to find them for sale anywhere on the web.
                              Is there something I'm missing?

                              Thanks,
