  • A New Look - We Hope You Like It!

    Happy Wednesday Everyone!

After months of design work, coding, testing and trying to develop a better shopping experience for our customers, today we launched a new mega navigation on Parts Express along with a new header and footer design. We really wanted to provide a cleaner structure for our navigation so you can find what you need as well as have access to more resources.

We're still working on a number of upcoming projects to provide you with more information for all of your audio needs, but in the interim, I hope you like this fresh new look.

Thanks again for your support and if you get a chance, stop by and check it out.

    Ginger,

Probably like most, change is just different. in a month we won't recall the old page. I still miss the old Deal of the Day, but like I said, we're all creatures of habit. As long as you folks are here, I'll be here. Thanks, Dennis

I always laugh and remember the scene from Family Guy when Stewie hollers "I don't like change!" I say that to people all the time. (I'm the same way!)

We had a few systems changes which caused the Deal of the Day feed to no longer work properly, but we were able to replace it with the Deal of the Week. Plus, we would have people comment that they could not always catch the deal of the day, so we thought if we created a deal that lasted a week, it would give customers time to grab it. Hopefully that helps alleviate some of the pain from DOTD.

The change is subtle, its still easy to navigate
I was just going to say , there is a deal of the week... Gives a little more time for a person to snag a deal ;)

I like it. The drop-down menus on the last design were a bit annoying because they would drop down over something I might be trying to access. I like the deal-o'-the-week as well.

            DOTW issue.

Looks like you guys are going to switch Vas from cu.ft. to liters (makes me sad)?
For the DA115 it lists Vas as 4.4cf (well, who'd buy it then?)
The conversion is OK (from 0.15cf), but it'd be nice if the "units" stated were correct.

Also, I'd think that under "Similar Products" I'd at least be introduced to other 4" woofers, not a 6-1/2", an 8", and a pair of 15" woofers. About the only thing there that's similar is the word "woofer" in the description.

(Just trying to help you debug stuff.)

            Another ?

How can I see 2 lists (side-by-side, so I can compare) Dayton's 5% pp caps vs Audyn's "budget" line? It SEEMS that (w/2016 pricing) the Audyns might overall be cheaper than the Dayton line. It was super easy to do this w/the old catalog (pages).

Also, it would be really great when selecting all the various filters to be able to turn off "automatic update" (MY term) so that you could pick more than a single parameter at a time, while having to wait for the screen to update fully after EACH pick. Let me pick a few different filter parms and THEN hit an update button, PLEASE.

Thanks, Chris - I'll pass this on to the product guys - they work with the similar products and the details on the product itself.

If it is navigation or display, I can help out in most cases. My team is working to help make the shopping experience easier and better for all of you. We're excited people like the drop down and the ability to click categories and not worry about the hover and navigation windows popping up all the time. We think it will be easier to find what you need right away.

                  Hi Chris,

In terms of comparisons, we're working on different features to try and help out. I'll see what the product guys say and if they have any suggestions for a resource we can add.

For the search filters, I agree. We are also working to revamp our search functions and make it easier to filter down to get to what you want. I'm one of those people who likes to select multiple filters and then hit apply to get what I want. Rest assured, it's on the plate.

                    Hey Chris,

Our spec tables are not going to change at this time. Rest assured, Vas will remain in cubic feet. Unfortunately, all the specs have to be hand entered so errors (missed conversions) can happen. We try to update and correct specs in a timely manner.

The DA115 Vas has been corrected.

                    Thanks,
                    Chris P

Re: A New Look - We Hope You Like It!

I personally wish that hovering over the drop down menu names would cause the menu to come down. Not because I'm too lazy to click a mouse button, but because I expect a well-implemented UI to intuit that my intention in hovering over a menu title is to open the menu.

The best way to implement this, IMO, would be to have the menu title highlight immediately (black, or a darker color red behind the white text) and then, after a 1s delay, the menu opens automatically. This will prevent the menu from opening any time I simply mouse over the menu title without intending to open the menu. This will satisfy user SPLEclipse above while making sure that other customers aren't confused about what they need to do next to dig deeper into the product line.

Ginger, happy Wednesday to you. First off I would like to thank you for the way you have been trying to engage the TT forum for
input into the way PE moves forward with changes. It is refreshing to have input. My thoughts on one decision that I cant understand is not having
a printed catalog. I know costs must be staggering to produce it, and I am sure it was not an easy decision. I think people are more likely to buy
by being inspired after looking through the pages. If you were to poll just the TT forum members I think most would overwhelmingly say they think
it is a mistake to drop the catalog. I would gladly pay a few $ to have a printed resource that I can just browse and discover some part or product
that I would not know you carry because I had to navigate and search for it. I hope PE gives this choice a second look, thanks for listening.

Thank you for the kudos - much appreciated! I definitely want to make sure we engage with our customers and I know the rest of the PE team feels the same way.

With regards to the catalog, I am sure there were many factors which went into that decision outside of cost - I'm not privy to them, but am sure it was not an easy decision. One factor I was aware of is up-to-date information - basically once the catalog went to press, it was already out-of-date since product availability and cost change frequently. (I only know this because my team updates the digital version of the catalog and I know the updates were pretty plentiful) I will definitely pass your commentary on - as a company PE is always evaluating all aspects and looking at feedback.

If there is anything we can look at providing from a digital side to help, please let me know. My team will do their best to give you a great customer experience on the site and help you find what you need.

                            Thanks again!
