    Overnight Sensations Center Channel

I made a surprising discovery. I had thought I took pictures of my OS CC build as I was building it, but it seems the only pictures I can find are the ones I took yesterday. I would like to give full credit to Tom aka Takitaj for the superb cabinet flat pack he created for me. Since Tom did such a great job in in creating the cabinet the veneer came out really well. So I am posting some pictures of the finished product.

The short answer is Dayton black ash vinyl. I have had such bad luck with painting MDF I used the vinyl and it seems to had come out good :D.

How does it sound? I recently finished an OS centre and i fear my decision to use 3/4" mdf has come back to haunt me, even though i chamfered the hell out of it. The bass doesnt sound so great under 150hz.

            Looks good though!

I need to re-calibrate my AVR because the way it is voiced dialog is strong and clear which is the main purpose of a CC. I think I need to turn it down some so it blends more seamlessly with my OS MTM's. I have been very pleased with the results. My front stage sounds really awesome now thanks to mister Carmody and his awesome speaker designs :D.

                Re: Overnight Sensations Center Channel

Thanks you guys for the compliments. It's very much appreciated.

Kevin, they came out pretty nice! If I can make a suggestion, get some (or one) of those cheap, small artist's brushes and paint the inner part of the driver rebates black so the MDF doesn't show through. It will hide any mistakes too. Doesn't have to be perfect, just enough to shade the inner parts.

Exarch, they were made of 1/2" MDF as the design calls for. If you made them out of 3/4" and used the same outer dimensions then you may have reduced the inside volume. There's not a whole lot there to begin with. If you want to use 3/4" then you should be modifying the outer dimensions to make up for the extra thickness. (add 1/2" to all outer dimensions)

Looks good! I am going to start my OS CC build in a week or so (once the backordered parts arrive). I am still trying to decide if I want to try and make the cabinet myself or try to get someone to make it for me.

Tom Jones aka takitaj (above) made my cabinet and I couldn't be happier. He did a great job and everything went together and lined up perfect. A pro made cabinet can be a great thing to have.

Those are really pretty speakers. What kind of wood was used for the veneer?
