I plan to have another one this summer. I can't host one until school gets out and the students leave. I also have to work around the summer music festival and a teachers gathering but that shouldn't be a big problem. I can do housing again for a cheap price, basically camping with indoor plumbing. I am hoping to get a few more people and Bob Brines has offered to do a demo on quarter wave cabinets. I will see if Dave Thomas comes up if he will do another crossover design presentation and I like to get a veneer presentation if Paul Stewart can make it. Along with people bringing some of their audio projects to listen to. So we will try and make it happen.

Hey All,
Hope you don't mind a newbee from North Texas joining in... my bride and I ride to the Springs quite regularly on the HD from McKinney TX and your group seems a natural fit. I'm embarking on my first speaker build ( Vince's VHTs ). I am making a couple of cabinet mods though... 3/4" red oak for the front, rear, top and bottom surfaces with 3/4" MDF sides. I'm sure that I will have questions and issues through the process. If you get the time, check out the VHTs on the PE website (http://www.parts-express.com/project...fm?project=Vht) and let me know what you think.

It is a nice project and the 7" Daytons are a very nice speaker. One of the guys from North Texas did a similar build with the dual Dayton 7" and the MCM 5.25" in an MTM arrangement with the Vifa Titanium neo tweet. Always did like the Vifa D27 tweet. You must have a big living room since they are not small. You have a great group of people in the Dallas area to use as a resource.

Thanks Bill. I do appreciate your response. I really do understand that as a true newbie at building speakers that I should most likely have started with an easier build. However, that's not my style; I truly enjoy a challenge, and look forward to much headscratching throughout the process. The funny thing is that I already have build two running through my head. I've taken some pics and will attach them shortly. b

I am looking for dates on the second Acoustic Development in Hot Springs. July seems to be the best month for the Texas guys. I realize there is no guarantee that anyone can make it but I would like to pick the best time when the possibility you can make it.
How does the weekends of July 9,10,11 or July 15,16, 17 look?
I have the Minister of Sound bringing his collection of amps, tuners, preamps and turntables if anyone needs something. Bob Brines doing a quarter wave cabinet design. I am hoping Paul Steward can make it up to do a veneer demo (I need to learn how). Thought if Dave Thomas could make it he might be able to do a crossover design demo again. I am open for further ideas.

Im watching and plan to attend again.
I have a measurement system in the works and would really look forward to someone doing a demo on how to measure and design a passive crossover again. I have WT3, ARTA, PCD and would like to know how to make all of those turn into a nice speaker!

Okay, I will start looking for a date in second half of July. The Texas guys are busy. Blair has a family now. Dave has been going full speed and Mark isn't likely to come by himself but if we can generate enough interest in Arkansas I will do it if possible.
Hipcheck I still have a pair of the Vifa XT25 Neos. Do you need them or can I sell them to another buyer? I have had some interest but have held onto them.

Roughly two years ago we had a get together in Hot Springs, Arkansas for a weekend in July. I work at a residential school and was able to offer rooms for the night about $20 a night. The school is located in "downtown" Hot Springs so food, drink and activities are within easy walking distance. The school has some facilities so we could listen to each others work, talk and socialize. Last year I did not get the interest to do it again but with no DIY gatherings in North Texas this past year I thought I put feelers out there for the weekend of July 13,14 and 15. I have a few people already mention they would like to come and I want to see if the effort is worth the while. Send some kind of response either to the thread or PM me. Hope we can get enough interest together to do a get together.
