You have to remember that it is all math and applied physics. I'm not saying you have to be a master of physics buy what I am saying is that most all results are fairly predictable. If the electronic calculattions and acoustic calculations are good then you will end up pretty close to the mark. Then you listen, and based on your listening experience you tweak, and so on. There are plenty of resources out there to help with calculations and computer modeling but that stuff won't always give you a clear indication of diminishing returns. What I mean is bigger wire = better conductor but jumper cables for a bookshelf speaker is silly, and paying the extra $50 to drop THD in a receiver from .5% to .05% is good but payin $1000 to go from .05 to .045 is nuts. Which is better, a curvy Latina girlfriend or a long lean Nordic girlfriend ? The only true answer is whatever makes you happy.

Most of Paul Carmody's (Overnight Sensations, Amiga, Carerra, Hitmakers, Tarkus, and more ...) were designed by him w/OUT taking his own measurements (AFAIK) - which he outlines in a (yellow) "sticky" at the head of this forum.

I have been planning to build some speakers for some time now, but then I started reading about ALL the testing that needs to be done...so the Project has been put on HOLD. Any thoughts on this? ANYONE here ever build speakers from SCRATCH that came out Good, without all kinds of testing?
